Our Mission
Safety is a broad topic that ranges in scope from lab work and fieldwork safety to feeling safe while walking to, from, or around campus. The CMES Safety Committee is engaged in helping develop safe practices that foster a safe working environment for everybody evolved in college-sponsored activities. Following safe practices in every environment, in the field, in the lab, in the office, and even during personal time, will lead to greater efficiency, higher quality research , and a much more enjoyable experience.
Safety topics, information, and forms
During the Pandemic, the University of Utah is advising students, faculty, staff,
and researchers to work off campus as much as is possible. The College of Mines and
Earth Sciences fully supports this approach but also realize the need to continue
scientific research. Therefore, a process has been put in place for research continuity.
For information on this process please refer to the research continuity memo sent out to the College community on 12/3/20; the forms for this process can be
found on the College intranet site.
