John Willing

John Willing earned a BS in Meteorology from the University of Utah in 1977 and enjoyed a very successful career as a broadcast meteorologist. After graduation, John worked as a weekend TV/radio meteorologist at KUTV where he anchored the on-air daily weather reports, and provided detailed weather conditions for utility companies and on-location movie and television production companies.

In 1980 John moved to San Antonio, TX to be the Chief Meteorologist at KMOL (now WOAI-TV). He spent the next 18 years as the on-air meteorologist for the daily weather reports at 6pm and 10pm, which also included producing and anchoring weather-related stories for the 10pm newscasts. While at KMOL he also spent time researching and writing a column for the San Antonio Express News and San Antonio Light newspaper, produced and anchored a weekly series on adoption called Wednesday’s Child, and gave a large number of weather-related presentations to area schools, civic clubs, and religious organizations. A very interesting and memorable experience he had was presenting San Antonio’s climate information to the US Olympic Committee to bid for the National Olympic Festival.

In 2000 John took a position with KTVT-TV in Dallas, TX as the Chief Meteorologist where he anchored the daily weather reports for the 5pm and 10pm newscasts. He is now back in San Antonio where he is self-employed as a stock investor. He is also involved in various ministry opportunities, including one that had a great impact on his whole family...a three-year project overseas to develop a highly successful youth orchestra for students in South Korea. John is married to Susan, a native of SLC and they have three married children.
