Alyssa Jenkins
Alyssa Jenkins graduated from the U the at same time that her husband returned home
from a deployment to Afghanistan. They decided it was his time to go to school so
they up and moved and she supported him by working full time during his school career,
as he had done for her. Due to the lack of job openings in her field in the area they
we were living in, she hired on with North Logan City and worked there for 2.5 years
before she was hired on as an Administrative Assistant to the Registrar at Utah State
University.
Her husband graduated in 2017 with his Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Education
and was hired on to teach Agriculture in Moorcroft, WY. Alyssa has two beautiful children
who keep her plenty busy. They are an Agriculture family and spend most of their summers
helping their dad with county fairs and supporting him in his growing FFA program.
Alyssa is able to be home now with her children but hasn’t dropped her passion for
weather. The severe weather season in Northeastern Wyoming is definitely more active
than in Utah but not as active as the Midwest. She has seen golf ball size hail, tornadoes
and blizzards to name a few. You can usually find her filling up phone storage with
cloud/storm photos.
Alyssa has found a passion in weather education. She’s started doing occasional social
media videos explaining weather phenomenon and facts. Her followers love the videos.
She also volunteered on and is registered as a Severe Weather Spotter for the National
Weather Service. She calls in severe weather as she sees it in her area and they in
turn use that information to update the issued warnings. So, even though her priority
right now is being a mom, Alyssa is able to keep up with what she loves and use what
she learned in school to teach others.
